Legal & General has partnered with UK-based digital healthcare service, Doctor Care Anywhere, in a pilot service to offer virtual access to GPs for existing group income protection (GIP) customers.
Insured employees will have access to video and phone consultations with UK-trained and fully accredited GPs through their computer, tablet or smartphone.
The service provides 20 minute consultations with GPs and appointments available from 8am to 10pm, 365 days a year.
Alongside providing employees with easy access to a general practitioner, the service includes a health tracking application, instant specialist referrals and fit notes, as well as private prescription pick-up or delivery.
According to Legal & General, the service is aimed at helping people to stay healthy.
Martin Noone, managing director, Legal & General Workplace Health & Protection, said: "The ease of access to expert medical advice can help towards faster diagnosis and treatment which can only benefit and improve the health and wellbeing of a workforce. Doctor Care Anywhere will provide employees with a safe, simple and secure way to take control of their health."

By GlobalDataKate Newhouse, CEO of Doctor Care Anywhere, said: “The combined effect of work pressures, busy lifestyles and the difficulties with accessing a GP means that people often neglect their basic healthcare needs.
“By offering employees the flexibility to see a GP at a time and place that suits them, whether they are at work, home or abroad, and tools to better manage their health, employers can ensure that they have a healthier, happier and more productive workforce.”
Doctor Care Anywhere markets itself as being complimentary to the NHS, rather than being an alternative to it.
