Genworth Financial has appointed James Boyle as president and chief executive officer of its US Life Insurance Division (USLI) and executive vice president of the company.

Boyle, who comes with around 30 years experience in insurance and financial services, joined his role on 31 January 2014.

Prior to joining Genworth, he served as president of John Hancock Financial Services. Previously, Boyle was president of John Hancock’s US Insurance company and its US Wealth Management company.

In addition, Boyle served on the board of directors of John Hancock Trust and John Hancock Funds.

Genworth president and chief executive officer Tom McInerney said Jim will bring important experience and expertise as the company works to turn around its USLI Division and its life insurance, long term care insurance, and annuities businesses.

"He will work with our USLI senior leadership team to continue to improve the profitability, financial strength, and capital generation of the division, and help accelerate the businesses’ return to growth," Mclnerney added.
