ACE Group has appointed Blain Waterford to the newly created role of vice president and deputy head of its accident and health business in Asia Pacific.

In his new capacity, Waterford will head up direct marketing, telemarketing, mobile assurance, hybrid products and data analytics in addition to having geographic responsibility for Australia/New Zealand and Korea.

He is currently the chief operating officer for ACE’s general insurance operations in Korea and will relocate to Singapore when he takes up his new role on 1 January 2015. He will report to Glen Browne, senior vice president and Asia Pacific’s head of accident and health for ACE.

Waterford joined ACE in 2007 as the head of accident and health for South Africa. Thereafter, he was posted to Singapore in 2010 as the head of direct marketing for Asia Pacific with responsibility across 12 markets.

Browne said Waterford’s "strong focus on delivering on bottom-line results" sets him up ideally for his enlarged responsibilities especially as ACE continue to seize the growth opportunities for the accident and health business in Asia Pacific.
